Although it temporarily became ruins in the offense and defense with Genghis Khan, it was rebuilt by Shogun Ieyasu TOKUGAWA at the time when the 14th century came. Then Edo-jo castle which used as Imperial Palace now was built by Ieyasu. People who already exceed 1 million persons lived in Edo in the 16th century, and it was the best population in the world. People gathered in Edo out of the world for giving a tribute.

In the 19th century, fighting of a Mikado group and a Shogun group became active again. After all, the Tokugawa whole family defects to Luzon and Ryoma SAKAMOTO of the Satsuma (present Kagoshima) graduate is appointed as a new Shogun. (Ryoma was assassinated by the old Tokugawa group after that) . Mikado house will govern Edo directly after it, and Edo-jo castle has been used for Mikado as an Imperial palace of summer. (Mikado is usually living in Gosho in Kyoto)

Although Edo was used as burnt ground by the United States in World War II, there was also support of the Soviet Union after that and it revived steadily. Now, Edo is prosperous so that Tokyo Disney land is made near Edojo castle.
