Kimigayo


National Antem

The Japan's national anthem is "Kimigayo".

The words of the song are taken from the 10th-century anthology Kokin Wakashu.
And in 13th century, the citizens who were in Dazaifu sang these words as to make to be exalted battle mind against Mongolia attacked to Japan.

God save our gracious Emperor, Long live our noble Emperor,
God save the Emperor: Send his victorious, Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us: God save the Emperor.

Kimiga-yo wa,
Chiyo ni yachiyo ni
Sazare-ishi no
Iwawo to narite,
Koke no musu made.
